Amanda Spybey, Owner/CEO,
founded Gulf Coast Mortgage Co., Inc. in Dec. 1999 after working for
another mortgage company and realizing “I can do it better”.
A graduate of the University of Alabama, she and her husband Danny
moved to the Eastern Shore in 1997, and proudly welcomed the addition
of their son Jackson to their family in 2005.
Amanda was awarded SCORE’s (Service Corp. of Retired Executives)
2002 “Client of the Year” award, and the Eastern Shore
Chamber of Commerce nominated her company for “Small Business
of the Year” in 2002, 2003, 2004, 2005 & 2006. In 2004,
the company was a finalist for Small Business of the Year.
In 2005, Amanda received the highly coveted designation of CRMS®
(Certified Residential Mortgage Specialist), a certification
developed by the National Association of Mortgage Brokers (NAMB) to
recognize brokers who have attained the highest levels of professional
expertise. Developed through extensive research by mortgage industry
experts, a NAMB designation is gained only once the candidate has
met certain requirements of experience and knowledge to practice mortgage
brokering and has passed a written examination. As of 11/2005, out
of 300,000 mortgage brokers nationwide, there are only 7 brokers in
the state of Alabama who hold either the CRMS® or CMC® designation
in the state of Alabama, and Amanda is one of only 3 in Baldwin &
Mobile Counties combined.
In 2004, Amanda earned “Delegated Underwriting” status,
an extremely difficult & stringent approval to obtain, after demonstrating
her expertise and knowledge in the areas of underwriting mortgages,
understanding program guidelines & requirements, compliance and
approving borrowers. This allows her to offer in-house underwriting
on a large variety of programs offered, which in turn lowers closing
costs for borrowers and speeds up underwriting and closing times.
Programs offered include: First Time Homebuyers $0 down; $0 down with
no MI; Adjustable rates; Interest-Only; Condos; 2nd homes and Investment
property; 80/20 programs with fixed rate 2nd’s, and many, many
more.
Amanda is a member of the National Association of Mortgage Brokers
(NAMB), The Alabama Mortgage Broker’s Association (AMBA), Eastern
Shore Chamber of Commerce and the Eastern Shore Art Association. She
also regularly donates to the local schools.
